Banff
Lake Minnewanka - largest lake in Banff National Park (and other lakes along the way include Cascade Ponds, Johnson Lake, and Two Jack Lake), close to Banff downtown
Johnston Canyon - popular family-friendly trail to check out some awesome waterfalls
Drive along Highway 1A (Bow Valley Parkway) for the chance to see wildlife
North towards Jasper along Highway 93 North
Epic drive with lots of hiking options along this route with opportunities to see wildlife - bears, caribou and mountain goats

South towards Invermere/Radium along Highway 93 South
Change in scenery as you drive across the British Columbia border

South towards Kananaskis Country along Highway 40
I love K Country. It's often overlooked by the tourists but there is so much to see and do here with lots of wildlife too - bears, deer, bighorn sheep
